The University of Dundee has advised us that, due to its own financial difficulties, there will be a 34% reduction in funding to your Students’ Association this year.
“DUSA Volunteers is more than just a group of individuals working together – it’s a family where students find a sense of belonging and discover the true value of community.”
At DUSA, we believe in the power of students coming together to create meaningful change. That belief led to the creation of DUSA Volunteers — a thriving community of student changemakers committed to supporting their peers and enhancing student life at the University of Dundee.
What started with just five students has grown into a vibrant network of over 250 volunteers, united by a shared mission to build a stronger, more supportive campus community. Now in its third year, the volunteering program was launched to address cost of living pressures through initiatives like the campus pantry. Thanks to the dedication of our Lead Volunteers, the pantry has become a fully student-led service that, in the past six months alone, has provided over a three thousand free grocery products to students struggling with food poverty.
Following this success, the program is expanding into new areas that give students even more ways to get involved. Foodstop will help reduce food waste by redistributing surplus food to those who need it. Our community gardening project will offer students the chance to learn gardening skills, grow their own produce, and connect with others in a relaxed, outdoor setting. Meanwhile, our campus cleanup initiative will empower students to take pride in their surroundings and contribute to a greener university environment.
But DUSA Volunteers is more than a service — it’s a community. Here, students find connection, support, and purpose. Volunteers not only contribute to the wellbeing of others but also grow personally and professionally. Whether it’s helping with academic work, finding accommodation or employment, or offering guidance on CV writing, they support each other in countless ways. These everyday acts of kindness foster deep friendships and teach lifelong lessons in empathy, collaboration, and resilience.
By cultivating a culture of inclusion and mutual support, DUSA Volunteers creates a space where every student feels valued and empowered.
Join the DUSA Volunteers community today and be part of something bigger. Together, we’re building a more compassionate, connected, and resilient student experience at the University of Dundee.
