DUSA Volunteers are more than just a group of individuals working together – it’s a family where students find a sense of belonging and discover the true value of community.” At DUSA, we believe in the power of students coming together to make a positive impact. That’s why we established the DUSA Volunteers program, a vibrant community of students dedicated to helping their fellow peers at the University of Dundee. What began as a group of five students has evolved into a close-knit family of one hundred students, driven by a shared mission to support and uplift the student community.
The journey began with a clear purpose: to support the vital cost of living measures The breakfast club and the campus pantry. Gradually, the breakfast club and the campus pantry evolved into fully volunteer-led events with the support of Lead Volunteers and over the last 6 months, they served more than 18,000 free breakfasts and distributed over 20,000 free grocery items, supporting students facing financial challenges.
They also took the initiative to organise a massive litter-picking project following the St. Patrick’s Day festivities. The efforts of 60 DUSA Volunteers resulted in the collection of over 50 kg of rubbish, contributing to a greener university.
Within this supportive environment, volunteers not only make a difference in the lives of others but also grow personally and professionally. They support each other with academic work, finding accommodations and employment, or helping with CV writing etc and through these acts of kindness, lifelong lessons are learned, and deep friendships are formed.
Volunteers also learn the importance of collaboration, empathy, and selflessness qualities that extend far beyond their volunteer roles. Together, our volunteers create an inclusive and empowering atmosphere, where everyone feels valued and connected. Join the DUSA Volunteers family today and become part of a community that uplifts and supports one another. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our fellow students, fostering a stronger, kinder, and more resilient student community at Dundee University.
