Student Led Teaching Awards 2023

The Student Led Teaching Awards is an opportunity to recognise, reward and celebrate the achievement of the academic and non-academic staff who go beyond the ordinary, to give you an awesome and far-reaching student experience. Every year DUSA organises this award as a recognition of hard work and quality learning contributed by each individual involved in the mission.

“The SLTA Awards, is an explicit acknowledgement of efforts of our teaching ,professional and non-teaching staff of our university community who have contributed to our academic success in many spheres . I hereby encourage you all to nominate your favourite staff for the various categories . Thanks for your audience, wishing you all continued success in your academic experiences and expectations.” –

The good news is that nomination for the Student Led Teaching Award 2023 is now open, and you can nominate any staff member of the University who you feel made a difference to your life. A member of staff at the University of Dundee Community who continuously excels and goes above and beyond to simplify things for you, it is the time to nominate them today and thank them for their outstanding contribution.

Here are the nomination categories that you can choose from:

1.) Best Assessment Feedback:This award goes to someone who has worked alongside you to develop your academic performance through written or verbal feedback on your work (assessments/examinations).

2.) Equality, Diversity and Inclusion: This Award is open to any member of staff at the university, not just Academic and teaching staff who has excelled in demonstrating the University’s equality and diversity culture or implemented initiatives to ensure equality, diversity and inclusivity is commonplace.

3.) Best Postgraduate Supervisor: This award goes to the supervisor who has provided with support, advice, and direction throughout your academic Postgraduate Taught or Postgraduate Research journey.

4.) Best Adviser / Personal Tutor: This award goes to the adviser who is approachable, proactive, and supportive when it comes to addressing students’ concerns and always has the students’ best interest at heart.

5.) Course of the Year: This award recognises a course whose staff work collectively to provide an outstanding student experience for those on it, empowering the students with employable skills and increasing student engagement with the curriculum design and teaching.

6.) Outstanding Wellbeing and Student Support Award :This award is for an individual who has contributed and enhanced your academic journey by providing advice, direction, taught you important skills and been there to direct you when you were lost.

7.) Commitment to Student Employability: This award recognises the work of an individual staff member who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the employability or personal and professional development of students. This can be a placement provider, personal tutor, lecturer, or any other staff member at UoD.

8.) Innovation in Teaching: This award goes to a member of the teaching staff who has excelled in adapting and innovating their approach to teaching.

9.) Accessible Education Award: The award goes to a member of staff who has provided an outstanding student experience for those studying on the course or programme.

10.) Most Inspirational Teaching: This is an individual who is passionate about their subject and that has empowered you as a student to take ownership of your learning by supporting you to maximise your academic potential and pushing you beyond your limits and to excel.
