About The Vic
The Vic, formerly known as “The Art School”, has regained it’s rightful place as part of Glasgow’s cultural fabric by creating a space for creative performance, live music, markets and club nights.
The site itself is based just off Sauchiehall Street in the Glasgow City Centre & operates a bar/café and performance venue. Its primary focus is as a members club serving the GSA’s student base, creating a high calibre of student experience through a diverse program of club nights, creative performances and community-centred events.

As an organisation we are partnering with the GSASA (Glasgow School of Art Students Association), where our team’s extensive knowledge and experience will support with the management of the Vic.
Purpose
The Purpose of the Hospitality and Events Supervisor position is to support the team with a positive attitude and to take ownership over the venue they are in. This versatile team provides a wide range of activities- from the set-up and delivery of an event, to welcoming the customers and promoting our events, to working within the food and beverage areas of our operations, to taking on projects to increase student engagement and enhance student experience. This role will be line managed by the Duty Manager, who will ensure training and development of the staff base, showing a clear path of progression through regular reviews.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
The Person
As a Hospitality and Events Supervisor, we will be looking for you to have a friendly positive attitude, be able to take initiative and maintain a strong work ethic throughout busy shifts. As the operations of The Vic are so diverse, we require our staff to be dynamic and approachable in various situations.
As a supervisor strong communication and the ability to motivate is key to ensure the smooth operating of a venue and its team.
Leadership qualities including accountability and the ability to operate autonomously, are vital as you would be responsible for your team and the venue, with support from management. Finally, we require our staff to be flexible regarding working hours as we operate throughout the year in many different spaces and times.
Qualifications/Knowledge/Experience
Hours of Work
Variable hours – Rota basis –no more than 20 hours per week for student applicants only, to avoid compromising academic commitments, unless an exemption is granted. There will be a requirement to work weekends and evenings.
Salary
All Team Member shifts are being paid at the current hourly rate of £12.21. All Hospitality Supervisor shifts will get paid at the Hospitality Supervisor rate of £12.45 per hour. No additional payments or allowances and no contractual entitlement to overtime.
