The Premier at DUSA has been shortlisted for four industry awards. Not only are they in the running for Scottish Grocer’s Independent Retailer of the Year and Sustainability Award, they are also down to a select few in the running for Soft Drinks Retailer of the Year and Sustainability Retailer of the Year in the Scottish Local Retailer Awards.
The retail industry has changed considerably in recent years and many independent retailers now work in conjunction with symbol groups, food-to-go brands, and more. To be shortlisted for these awards The Premier was judged on commercial viability, strength and resilience, staff development, marketing and communication, community involvement and trade and market knowledge.
Sustainability is now a key consideration for shoppers and DUSA’s retail outlets have been shortlisted for two awards in this category. The judging panel are looking at the steps we have taken to reduce our carbon footprint, cut back on waste, tackle litter, and source local produce.
The Scottish Grocer Awards take place on 2 November in Glasgow. The Scottish Local Retailer Awards, celebrating 20 years this year, will be held at the Radisson hotel in Glasgow on 7 September. These events will see the cream of Scotland’s retail community gather to recognise and reward some of the best retailers, stores and initiatives in the Scottish convenience sector.
Cheryl-Ann Cruickshank, CEO of DUSA, said,
‘‘The Premier team has shone brighter than ever, particularly during Covid times. When the going got tough, the tough most certainly got going and the entire retail team can be rightly proud of being shortlisted in no fewer than four industry awards. Staff at The Premier put their heart and soul into ensuring students and staff had access to a safe, sustainable shopping experience directly on campus. My sincere thanks and congratulations go to Retail Manager Moira Dean and her team of staff.’’
