2500 people expected at Dundee’s largest Cosplay, gaming and comics convention on Saturday 9th April.

Anime characters, medieval knights and supervillains will descend on Dundee this weekend as they attend the city’s largest COSPLAY, gaming and comic convention. After a two-year hibernation, Dee CON returns to the University of Dundee Campus on Saturday 9 April.

Organisers are planning their biggest event, with 2500 people attending seven Dee CON venues across the University of Dundee Campus. In addition to Cosplay masquerades, Artist Alley, video games tournaments and seminars there are several new attractions for 2022…

For Anime fans there is the “Maid In Scotland” café and the “Jellypop Idols” dancers in the DUSA Building. New venues include the Board Gaming Marquee and the Medieval Arena, both on the Campus Green. There are screenings of the 1979 Anime classic The Castle of Cagliostro in the Dalhousie Building. Anyone wanting to take a break will be able to use three quiet areas across the event site.

Launched in 2009, Dee CON is organised by Dundee University students, with any profit used to fund student activities. The event is supported by local businesses such as Highlander Games, and lecturers including Professor Christopher Murray who leads Comics Studies at the University.

Dee CON is open to the general public and children aged 9 or under get free admission. However at night it’s “over-18’s-only” as 800 people celebrate at the Dee CON After-party in the DUSA Building.
