Wow, how time flies!
To see what started as a brainstorming session with the exec in the DUSA office at the start of the 22/23 academic year due to the amount of feedback students were giving us about the fear of rising prices of rent and general living. Is now not only, a thriving volunteering community filled with wholesome individuals but also 50,000 free breakfasts and approximately 90,000 grocery items!
On top of all that, the new exec team has now worked hard on expanding the Breakfast Club in Kirkcaldy starting December 4th 2023 and soon come Ninewells! We’ve already also established a pantry at Kirkcaldy which students engage with, run via our University staff based there.
Its success has been profound, not only in aiding students financially but also in fostering a strong sense of community among peers who utilize this resource, including those who volunteer to support it! Equity stands as a fundamental pillar in the manifesto of your executive team and should continue to be in all our lives for the benefit of all.
In line with the rest of our Cost of Living proposal, we will be working behind the scenes to implement a more improved offering of other services/ projects that will reduce the impact of the Cost of Living for all our students and improve the student experience overall.
Many Thanks
Ash
