At the last meeting, the SRC voted to formally support the Dundee University Nursery.
Following a motion presented by VPSA Tom, the SRC agreed to publicly support the DUCU petition calling for the protection of the Nursery.
For decades, the Nursery has been an essential part of campus life, providing accessible childcare that enables student parents and staff to participate fully in university life. Current uncertainty around its future – including whether it will remain open beyond August 2026 – is deeply concerning.
Childcare is not an optional extra; it is a vital part of creating an inclusive university where students with caring responsibilities can succeed.
The SRC stands in solidarity with student parents, nursery staff, and everyone affected. We are calling on the University to commit to maintaining and properly funding the Dundee University Nursery for the long term.
