We are so ecstatic to share that DUSA Executive President and the University of Dundee, engineering student Nyasha Mutembwa is shortlisted as the Engineering Student of the Year 2023 for the Engineering Talent Awards.
Cheryl-Ann Cruickshank, Chief Executive Officer – DUSA expresses her joy and stated:
“Having faced many personal challenges as a black women in stem, Ash chooses to use her own experiences and those of her peers to fuel positive changes with the utmost decorum and professionalism, positioning herself expertly as both a compelling advocate for change and champion of gender and race equality.”
When asked how does it feel to be shortlisted for such an esteemed award category, Ash stated:
“I am pleasantly surprised that I’ve been shortlisted for this award for a second year in a row!! When I put in my nomination this year, I wasn’t sure that I had elevated myself above my last shortlisting, but I was determined to be bigger and better than before. I hope that with all the amazing work I’ve done as a STEM leader in the School of Science & Engineering and as DUSA President, I’ll secure the title this year! I’m proud to have reached this stage again and I can only thank those who have supported me so far for helping me get to this point.”
The winner will be announced at the awards dinner on 8 September 2023, at the Leonardo Royal Hotel Tower Bridge, London.
