
Support for Dundee University Nursery Confirmed by SRC
Following a motion presented by VPSA Tom, the SRC agreed to publicly support the DUCU petition calling for the protection of the Nursery.
On 24 March, University of Dundee staff and students were invited for a discussion on race equality. The University of Dundee celebrated the Race Equality Charter with professor Nicola Rollock. The “fire-side” conversation was chaired and hosted by professor Ian Gillespie, principal and vice-chancellor of the University of Dundee. The University has held the Race Equality Bronze Charter Mark for one year and the event was hosted to commemorate the anniversary. The event focused on racism and the persistent inequalities that exist within the Higher Education sector disproportionately impacting those from minoritised backgrounds.
The Race Equality Charter (REC) aims to improve the representation, progression and success of minority ethnic staff and students within higher education. It provides a framework through which institutions work to self-reflect on institutional and cultural barriers standing in the way of minority ethnic staff and students.
