The larger of The Union’s two bars, The Liar is named after the novel and film from our beloved former Rector Stephen Fry.
The Venue….
Duplicitous and deceitful, The Liar offers a choice of four distinct areas, a plethora of plasma screens and a free online jukebox. Whether it be the comfortable and bijou lounge with its leather sofas and low lighting; the sun-drenched, double-height, window side with private booths large enough to seat you and all your new friends; the busy bar area with standing room only; or the raised seating booths – we guarantee that you will find an area to suit your taste.
The Cheapest…
More importantly, The Liar is the cheapest student venue in Dundee both for food and drink. We have over 20 products priced at £1 or less, in fact over 40% of our drinks menu is priced at just £1.50 or less. Premium branded shots, alcopops and bottled beers can also be bought for as little as £2.
Not just a bar…
As well as being The Union’s busiest bar at night, The Liar is always packed at lunchtime when we serve baked potatoes with a selection of fillings, homemade soup, paninis, pizzas, salad bowls and pie and mash. We also serve a full range of Fairtrade Tiki coffees, teas, hot chocolate and indulgence products from as little as £1. In the afternoon you can find students relaxing and making full use of our free wi-fi and power points. The Liar is also renowned for its excellent pizza menu served all day, seven days a week 12pm – 10pm.
Seven nights of entertainment…
With our 14 plasma screens, The Liar is THE venue to watch televised sport in Dundee – no other pub beats us for atmosphere for big sporting events. The Liar also hosts a weekly FIFA tournament, quiz, DJs, bar games, and pool competition and we have a dedicated gaming area for X-box and Playstation use. So come and visit The Liar any day from 11am to eat drink, dance or play.
