With two distinct areas (referred to as Mono 1 and Mono 2) Mono caters for both dance floor fanatics and those who prefer to chill-out. Mono is the cheapest, busiest and safest student nightclub in the city and in 2010 it was voted by Dundee University students as their favourite nightclub in Dundee.

Over the past few years Mono has hosted a wide range of headlin- ing acts. Not only was Mono chosen to launch Radio 1's Big Weekend in 2006, with Zane Lowe, The Kooks and The View live on national radio, it has also hosted sell-out performances from the likes of Groove Armada, Mylo, Biffy Clyro, BCM, Hed Kandi and SASH!. In fact, Mono is a very popular venue with Radio 1 DJ's and over the last few years the nightclub has played host to: Fearne Cotton, Scott Mills, Vernon Kaye, Edith Bowman, Chappers and Dave, Nihal, Trevor Nelson, Tim Westwood, Mistajam, Judge Jules, Pete Tong, Annie Mac and Huw Stephens. They enjoy playing at The Union so much that former Radio 1 DJ Colin Murray rates Mono as his all time favourite student venue.

So if you think you're going to be visiting Mono on a regular basis (and believe us, you probably will) we strongly recommend you buy a VIP Pass, that will get you into both our nightclubs for free on Friday and Saturday nights.

With a glazed balcony Floor 5 offers panoramic views of the Tay estuary, as well as enabling you to check out the talent in the Liar below. With a smaller capacity than Mono, Floor 5 hosts more eclectic and specialist club nights, catering for those who prefer their music to be more credible than commercial – more Klaxons than Kelly Clarkson.
