► Cameron Ritchie for Deputy President

My name is Cameron Ritchie, a fourth year Politics and History student and I am running for Deputy President. The role of Deputy President, as far as I am concerned, is primarily one of looking after you, the student. As Deputy President, I will seek to increase the representation that the students have, improving the system that we have in Dundee and taking your concerns and issues to the highest levels possible. My three policies to improve student life are these.

Often I have been aware that there have been problems with communication between the Student Executive and the student body. Improving this link is fundamental to the improvement of the University. The representation system needs to be improved in order to make participation more rewarding. To this extent I plan to change the current structure to create a more skills based system which will advance C.V.’s and create better skilled workers.

I also plan to ensure the executive keeps the interests of students at the centre of all decisions. To do this I propose open surgeries where you are welcome to talk to me in informal surroundings without the need for visiting offices and making appointments.

My third policy is one that affects all students. I plan to use the position of Deputy President to put pressure on the government to ensure that their manifesto promise to scrap tuition fees is carried out. We have been lied to and I plan to take this grievance to the highest level achievable.

1.Make the representation system work for students

2.Ensure that the Student Executive retains the student at the centre of all decisions

3.Campaign for more pressure to be put on the government to scrap tuition fees as promised to the students of Scotland
